What's your 1 in 2021?

I have a secret to share with you today ... every year just prior to this time I would purchase a new planner. You remember planners don't you? It was the book we would carry with us everywhere to insert those important events, dates, meetings - the book we would buy to simplify and organize our lives, and oft times it would do the opposite.

The secret part of buying a planner that I wanted to share is that deep down as I thumbed through those empty pages, filled with empty squares I would get SO GEEKED on the inside. Those empty pages, filled with empty squares represented POSSIBILITY to me and HOPE.

As those pages sat before me empty they represented a year filled with months, weeks, days and hours that I had available and had not messed up.

As the squares sat empty I would dream of hitting goals and ending the year that sat blank before me with - more time with God, more time with Family, more time for me, more time to get in shape, more time to earn and save more - time! I was going to have more and be more in 365 days than I had prior to that moment in time.

I believe strongly in GOALS! Habakkuk 2:2 says, "WRITE the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it."

Now that I've circled the sun 52 times I'm realizing that my error hasn't been in the writing of my goals part, the error that I have personally made is that I make it far too complicated to actually see my goals through.

I have God goals, ministry goals, family goals, finance goals, weight loss goals, health goals, business goals - goals, goals, goals! Making a lot of goals made me feel responsible and in control - and yet not accomplishing all the goals made me feel like a failure.

This year I am setting 1 goal - yes, you read that correctly - 1 goal for 2021! 1 goal that is plain and that will encompass ALL goals!

My goal this year is found in Matthew 6:33, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and ALL these things will be ADDED unto you."

The Passion Translation breaks it down beautifully, "So above all, constantly chase after the realm of God's kingdom and all the righteousness that proceeds from Him. Then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly."

Romans 14:17 evens specifies what the "kingdom" that we are to seek first is, "For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost."

I invite you to join me this year - let's chase and seek God like we never have before. Let's prioritize the Kingdom of God in our lives by seeking, chasing, and earnestly desiring His righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost in our lives.

That is MY 1 for 2021!
